Privacy policy
Effective 4 November 2026
The short version
- You don't need an account. We never ask for your name or email to use Wettar.
- We use your location only to show you the weather. Your location is not stored on our server or linked to you.
- Your settings and favourite places stay on your phone.
- We don't sell your personal data.
- The free version shows ads from Google, and you decide whether they may be personalised. Plus has no ads unless you choose to watch a reward video. Premium has no ads.
1. Who we are
Wettar is made by Kossava Labs, the brand of LUKA KOPRIVICA PR LOOK PHOTO STUDIO, Misarska 7, Valjevo, Serbia ("we", "us"). We are responsible (the "controller") for the personal data described in this policy.
Questions about privacy, or a request about your data: [email protected].
2. What data we use, and why
Location
To show the weather where you are, Wettar asks for permission to use your approximate location (roughly the area of a town, not your exact position). You can say no and search for places by name instead.
The app sends the coordinates of your location, or of a place you searched for, to our server (api.wettar.com) and from there to our weather data provider, so they can return the forecast. We use them only to answer that request. We do not store your location on our server, build a location history or link a location to you.
Data stored on your phone
Your settings, saved and recent places, chosen dashboard tiles and the latest forecast are stored only on your device. If Android backup is turned on, your phone may include this data in its backup to your Google account. Google handles that backup, not us. Uninstalling the app deletes this data from your phone.
Technical data
Like any internet service, our server and our network provider (Cloudflare) receive your device's IP address and basic technical information, such as the app version, when the app asks for weather data. We use this to deliver the data, keep the service running and protect it from abuse. Technical logs are kept for a short time only and then deleted.
Purchases
Plus and Premium are bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment, and we never see your card or bank details. We receive a confirmation of the purchase (which plan, its status and a purchase reference) so we can unlock your features and check with Google that the purchase is valid.
Ads in the free version
The free Basic version shows ads from Google AdMob. Basic and Plus also offer optional reward videos: short ads you choose to watch to unlock a feature for a limited time. To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google receives data from your device, such as your advertising ID, IP address and device information.
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before ads may be personalised. You can change your choice at any time in the app's settings.
- On any Android phone you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Google → Ads).
- Plus shows no ads unless you choose to watch a reward video. Premium shows no ads, so no ad data is shared.
Google uses this data under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Notifications, alerts and widgets
Weather notifications, alerts and widgets are created on your phone from the forecast the app has already downloaded.
Sharing a forecast
When you choose to share a forecast, the image or link is created on your phone and sent only to the app or person you pick.
Emails to support
If you write to us, we use your email address and message to answer you. We keep the conversation only as long as needed to help you, and for up to two years in case you write again about the same topic.
What we don't do
- We don't require an account, and we don't collect your name, contacts, photos or files.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't use analytics or crash-reporting tools in the app at this time. If we add them, we will update this policy first.
3. Who we share data with
We only share data with service providers who help us run Wettar, and only as much as they need:
| Provider | What for | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Network, security and hosting for our server and website | IP address, technical request data |
| Weather data providers (currently Open-Meteo) | Forecasts and weather data | Coordinates of the place you're looking at, sent from our server |
| Map data providers | Map images on the Map screen | Map area being viewed, IP address |
| Google (Play, Play Billing, AdMob) | App distribution, purchases, ads and reward videos | Purchase details; ad data as described above |
Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where this happens, they use recognised safeguards for international transfers, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it.
4. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
- Providing the app you asked for (contract): forecasts for your location and places, purchases.
- Your consent: location permission and personalised ads. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting what happened before.
- Our legitimate interests: keeping the service secure and working, preventing fraud, showing non-personalised ads in Basic and in reward videos and answering your messages.
5. How long we keep data
- Location: not stored after your request is answered.
- Technical logs: a short period, then deleted.
- Purchase records: as long as your purchase is active and as required by tax and accounting law.
- Support emails: as described above.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to ask for access to your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent. Because Wettar works without accounts, we usually hold very little data that can be linked to you. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month.
You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
US residents: we don't sell personal information. In some US states, letting Google use device data for personalised ads in the free version can count as "sharing" for targeted advertising. You can opt out by deleting or resetting your advertising ID in your phone's settings, or by using Premium.
7. Children
Wettar is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Data between the app and our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Paid weather data keys are kept on our server, never in the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there is little to protect in the first place.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how Wettar uses data, we will update this page and the date at the top. For important changes we will also tell you in the app.
